We have 8 beginner boards and rigs,
many of them new this season.

Winter is behind us and Trent Windsurfing Club have some news that might interest you. Since running our taster sessions last summer we listened to the feedback from people like yourself and we recognised that we need to make it easier for people to enter the sport. We have been fortunate to be awarded a Sport England Grant, and with the award we now have the funds to change how the club operates.

Historically, if you liked the idea of windsurfing, you got a lesson or maybe two, bought your kit and went windsurfing learning mostly by trial and error. The problem with that, especially in straightened economical times, is that there is a large outlay required on something you might possibly not be that sure about.

Well, thats all changed. Trent Windsurfing Club now have eight complete sets of beginner gear, much of it brand new, available for members to use, any time they like. The boards are big and floaty so they are exceptionally easy to learn on. The rigs are simple, lightweight and user friendly. And it is all stored in sets so you don’t need to worry whether you have the right combination of parts or not. You can come and use it anytime, (with the exception of when it it is needed by the club for training sessions etc), no booking necessary.

We also recognised that the membership fee is a substantial amount to pay out, especially if you only want to find out it you really enjoy it, so we are making this offer. Join the club and if within 3 months you decide its really not for you, then we’ll give you 50% of what you paid, back, when you return your keys and car stickers. Full details can be found here.

So what if you get the bug? Simple. You can carry on using our kit as often as you like, or you join our Hire Scheme, and for an incredibly low monthly fee you get a board and rig to take away with you to use anywhere you like whenever you like. We will tailor the board and rig size to suit you, and when you progress, we will rent you an intermediate board to get you really flying.

In 2013 we will be expanding our training programme to include basic beginner training. You need to have had a course of this level to be able to use our equipment safely, it ensures that you are able to get back to where you set off from, but if you have had this training elsewhere thats OK too. Our course is free for club members and the first one is a 2 day course and will be run on the weekend of the 18th and 19th of May. There will only be 6 places available so if you would like to be included please get in touch as soon as possible. More courses will follow later in the year. Our first taster sessions of the season will be run on the 8th and 9th of June. If you know anyone who might be interested please let them know. .

We will be running our Club Nights, each Thursday from 9th of May onwards. The very first club night is specifically aimed at beginners and is intended to show them how to rig the club kit. You could just come along and find out more about what we have going on, you don’t need to be a member. We will be scheduling regular beginner training sessions on club nights for you to refresh your knowledge and technique throughout the season in addition to many other activities aimed at all standards of windsurfer. We also have our regular training weekend with Jim Collis, professional windsurfing trainer, at Rutland Water on the weekend of June 29th and 30th. This is a regular event in our calendar, it is a great place to camp over and we will be providing BBQ facilities on the Saturday night.

So, if you are tempted, have a look round our newly updated website, theres loads of information there, and you can get in touch from the Contact page, or pop along to our first Club Night on May 9th and we’ll be happy to show you around.
