The club will very shortly be arranging another trip to Sotovento, Fuerteventura in June of 2017. Following the hugely successful trips in 2015 and 2016 we think its one of the most reliable and affordable destinations guaranteeing wind. The location offers open sea sailing with little or no shore break and flat water for all those sailors confident in stronger winds. There is also the lagoon for those less confident and for all sailors to practise and rehearse their hot shot moves in waist deep water. This year the tides will be the best we’ve ever had so the lagoon will be the biggest and deepest and all nicely timed for a high tide mid afternoon.

What this means for beginner members is that this is a completely safe location with strong consistent winds for you to progress. Whilst instruction isn’t provided in the package it is available at the centre for a fee and of course our club instructors will help you when they need a breather from the hectic unrelenting wind.

Conditions for the more experienced winsdurfer are superb. Off shore winds ensure zero shore dump, some very small waves can be found it you go looking for them. Flat water close in to the shore for speed enthusiasts and easy gybing conditions, getting a little lumpy further out. If you can stay upwind in a blow there are many little sand spits where you can find shallow gybing water and places to get your breath.

Dates are Wednesday 21st June to Wednesday 28th June. Prices are likely to be £650 ish, pretty much what we paid in previous years. This covers flights from East Midlands or Birmingham (not sure yet), airport transfers, self catering appartments 2 or 3 sharing, daily transfers to and from the windsurf centre, and all hire equipment. You will need to pay a €35 insurance fee at the windsurf centre to cover damage to boards and sails. Most people can manage with hand luggage for a week in a very warm climate, only needing hold luggage space for harness, boots etc, so if you want to share a bag let us know, the club will be arranging spare baggage allowance for sharers in order to keep costs down.
